What is a cash advance or payday loan?
A cash advance or payday loan is an unsecured, short-term loan that covers unexpected
expenses until your next payday. You simply write a check for the fee and the amount
you want to borrow and we advance the cash you need. We hold your check until your
next payday or agreed due date at which time you can come in and pay back the advance.
We can also debit your checking account automatically to save you time.
How much will I be able to borrow?
The State of California regulates the maximum advance amount at $300. You will qualify
for a particular advance amount based on your current income. Sometimes you may
not be able to get as much as you'd like but a cash advance or payday loan may be
part of your financial solution, if used responsibly. We won't really be helping
if you borrow more than you have the ability to repay and the loan creates a financial
hardship.
What happens if I change my mind after taking out a cash advance or payday loan?
You are able to rescind the transaction at no cost before the end of the following
business day by returning the full amount of the advance.
Will my cash advance or payday loan transaction be confidential?
Yes. All information is kept in locked files accessible only by American Cash Advance
management. Please see our Privacy Statement for more information.
How much does it cost?
Loan costs and fees are set by the State of California. Currently, the set fee for
a cash advance/payday loan is 15% of the amount to be borrowed.
Are payday loans outrageously expensive?
Compared to fees charged by banks for overdrafts, late fees by credit card companies
and other companies, a cash advance/payday loan can be reasonable. In most cases,
it is less expensive to have a cash advance/payday loan rather than pay bank and
credit card fees.
